Mark WilkesArts graduate Mark was amongst the first traders to take the South African RPE exams (MIFM number 01) and traded Bond futures on the first day of trading in SA. He screen traded spots, listed /OTC options at NDH on bonds and gilts before moving onto the equity floor of the JSE where he traded equities and index arbitrage extensively (with Hayes Cutten and Ferguson Bros). He then moved to London and was with Daiwa Socgen as a Risk Consultant involved in valuing, modeling and implementing systems in varied asset classes and deal structures ranging from Asian Bonds through Eastern European/Russia WI, pan-European/US/Japanese equities. He then became the Head of Risk at Fortis London, with his main area of involvement being Hedge Fund and FOF structuring. While there, he developed new proprietary analytic models for complex fund risk management analysis and management . He has also self traded SA/UK/US/ASIAN cash and derivatives on equities, FX, commodities and bonds for six years. Mark joined Global Trader in 2010 heading up the Western Cape Branch and focusing on HNW and institutional clients. "Establishing a long term relationship with our clients is key.
